Ivan Perisic has signed a new deal at Inter Milan that will keep him at the club until 2022.

Inter released a statement on Friday confirming the news, which will be a blow to Manchester United.

According to Gazzette dello Sport (h/t The Sun‘s Jake Lambourne), the deal includes a clause preventing him from joining the Premier League outfit after they spent the summer unsuccessfully pursuing him.

Inter took to Twitter to celebrate the news:

Eurosport’s Siavoush Fallahi shared comments from Perisic on securing his future at Inter:

The Croatian contributed 11 goals and 12 assists last year, and he has made an electric start to this year’s campaign by scoring once and assisting three times in Inter’s first two matches of the season.

Indeed, his creativity has shone through during his time at the San Siro, per Squawka Football:

The deal puts the Nerazzurri in a strong position to fend off interest in Perisic and they can now demand an exorbitant fee should any clubs make an approach.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stoney believes the contract will end United’s pursuit of him for good:

Because of Perisic’s age, while he could still make a strong addition to the side, he wouldn’t be a long-term acquisition.

With the size of the price tag Inter might place on him in light of his new deal, it would be extremely difficult to sign him and get good value out of the move.
